Challenge and Awe

Only on the steep ridge may we experience the dark and light of the two faces that create the mountain itself.

Rock climbing is not only a necessary skill for the mountains, it is also one of the most rewarding and challenging activities in its own rite. Nothing else compares to the intense focus and delicate balance of strength and grace required to explore the vertical world.

I offer all levels of instruction for aspiring rock climbers and alpinists. From learning your first knots and how to move your hips, to the Cassin route on Piz Badile; we can build you skills or just have a fun day on the rocks. I work exclusively with individual climbers or pairs to gain the skills and progressively work toward whatever their unique goals are in the mountains and on the rock.

Europe:

Each summer I guide motivated climbers in some of the most inspiring ranges in Europe. Areas like the Dolomites of Northern Italy with their soaring limestone towers offer incredible adventures for all levels of climbers. The granite above Chamonix is home to beautiful alpine routes accessed from comfortable huts. Climbing in Europe is a great combination of both vacation and focused training. You can build confidence and test yourself while still enjoying a couple of life’s simple indulgences.

Colorado, our home .

The Black Canyon

This gem is well known to experienced climbers across the country. It hosts some of the most incredible rock faces any where in the world and a wealth of adventurous rock climbs. It is common to do a 2-6 day trip here to warm up to the unique rock before taking on bigger routes from the river to the rim. My favorite routes are: Maiden Voyage to King Me (III 5.10-), Russian Arete (IV 5.9+), Scenic Cruise (IV 5.10+), Leisure-Midsummer-Comedy link-up (III 5.10+), and Comic Relief (III 5.10)
