What is Ice Climbing?

Ice climbing is both its own independent sport as well as a fundamental skill for Alpinism. There is nothing quite like the unique vertical winter environment, satisfaction of a good tool placement, and incredible positions of climbing steep icefalls. The world-renowned ice mecca of SW Colorado has been my home since 2001. Every season I still get excited to climb the incredible frozen flows that present new challenges every winter. We can develop the subtleties of ice movement, climb beautiful waterfalls, and develop real skills for the greater ranges.
